Speech by the President of the Nation, Javier Milei, from the Davos Forum, Switzerland
Good morning everyone. How much has changed in such a short time. A year ago, I stood here in front of you alone and said some truths about the state of the Western world that were met with some surprise and astonishment by a good part of the political, economic, and media establishment in the West. And I must recognize that, in a sense, I understand it. A president of a country that, due to systematic economic failure for more than 100 years, due to having taken pusillanimous stances in the great global conflicts, and due to having closed ourselves off from trade, had practically lost all international relevance over the years. A president of that country stands at this podium and tells the whole world that they are wrong, that they are heading towards failure, that the West has deviated and must be redirected.
A president of that country, Argentina, who was not a politician, who had no legislative support, who had no support from governors, businessmen, or media groups. In that speech, here, standing in front of you, I told you that it was the beginning of a new Argentina, that Argentina had been infected with socialism for too long and that with us it would return to embrace the ideas of freedom; a model that we summarize in the defense of life, liberty, and private property.
And I also told you that, in some sense, Argentina was the ghost of Christmas future for the West because we had already experienced everything you were living and we already knew how it ended. A year later, I must say that I no longer feel so alone, I don’t feel so alone because the world has embraced Argentina. Argentina has become a global example of fiscal responsibility, of commitment to our obligations, of how to end the problem of inflation and also of a new way of doing politics, which consists of telling the truth to people to their faces and trusting that people will understand.
I also do not feel alone because throughout this year I have been able to find companions in this fight for the ideas of freedom in every corner of the planet. From the wonderful Elon Musk to the fierce Italian lady, my dear friend, Giorgia Meloni; from Bukele in El Salvador to Viktor Orbán in Hungary; from Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel to Donald Trump in the United States. Slowly, an international alliance of all those nations that want to be free and believe in the ideas of freedom has been forming.
And slowly, what seemed like an absolute global hegemony of the woke left in politics, in educational institutions, in the media, in supranational organizations, or in forums like Davos, has begun to crack, and a hope for the ideas of freedom is starting to emerge.
Today I come here to tell you that our battle is not won, that although hope has been reborn, it is our moral duty and historical responsibility to dismantle the ideological edifice of sick wokism. Until we have managed to rebuild our historical cathedral, until we manage to get the majority of countries in the West to embrace the ideas of freedom again, until our ideas are not the common currency in the halls of events like this, we cannot lower our arms because, I must say, forums like this have been protagonists and promoters of the sinister agenda of wokism that has caused so much harm to the West. If we want to change, if we truly want to defend the rights of citizens, we must first start by telling them the truth.
And the truth is that there is something profoundly wrong with the ideas that have been promoted from forums like this. I would like to take a few minutes, from this day, to discuss some of them. Today, few people deny that winds of change are blowing in the West. There are those who resist change, there are those who accept it begrudgingly, but they accept it after all, there are the new converts who appear when they see it as inevitable, and finally, there are those of us who have fought our whole lives for its advent.
Each of you will know in which group you recognize yourself, surely there is a bit of each in this auditorium, but you will all surely recognize that the time for change is knocking at the door. Historical moments of change have a peculiarity: they are times when the formulas that have been valid for decades are exhausted, the ways considered unique to do things cease to make sense and what for many were unquestionable truths are finally called into question. They are moments when the rules are rewritten and that is why they are times that reward those who have the courage to take risks.
But a good part of the free world still prefers the comfort of the known, even if it is the wrong path, and insists on applying the recipes of failure. And the great anvil that appears as a common denominator in the failing countries and institutions is the mental virus of woke ideology. This is the great epidemic of our time that must be cured; it is the cancer that must be excised.
This ideology has colonized the most important institutions in the world, from the parties and states of the free countries of the West, to global governance organizations, passing through non-governmental institutions, universities, and media, as well as shaping the course of global conversation over the last few decades. Until we remove this aberrant ideology from our culture, our institutions, and our laws, Western civilization and even the human species will not be able to return to the path of progress that our pioneering spirit demands.
It is essential to break these ideological chains if we want to take a step towards a new golden age. That is why, today, I want to dedicate a few minutes to destroying those chains, but first let’s talk about what we are fighting for. The West represents the pinnacle of the human species, the fertile land of its Greco-Roman heritage and its Judeo-Christian values that planted the seeds of something unprecedented in history. After definitively overcoming absolutism, liberalism inaugurated a new era in human existence. Within that new moral and philosophical framework that placed individual freedom above the whim of the tyrant, the West was able to unleash man's creative capacity, initiating a process of wealth generation never before seen.
The data speaks for itself; until the year 1800, the world’s GDP per capita remained practically constant. However, starting in the 19th century and thanks to the Industrial Revolution, GDP per capita multiplied by 20; pulling 90% of the world’s population out of poverty even as the population multiplied eightfold. This was only possible thanks to a convergence of fundamental values, respect for life, liberty, and property that made possible free trade, freedom of expression, religious freedom, and the rest of the pillars of Western civilization.
Alongside this, our Faustian spirit, inventive, exploratory, pioneering, that is always testing the limits of the possible. The pioneering spirit that today is represented among others by my dear friend Elon Musk, who has been unjustly vilified by wokism in recent hours for an innocent gesture that only signifies his enthusiasm and gratitude to the people. In summary, we invented capitalism based on savings, investment, work, reinvestment. We made it possible for every worker to multiply by 10, by 100, or why not even by 1000 their productivity, thus overcoming the Malthusian trap. However, at some point in the 20th century, we lost our way and the liberal principles that had made us free and prosperous were betrayed.
A new political class, sheltered by collectivist ideologies and taking advantage of moments of crisis, saw a perfect opportunity to accumulate power. All the wealth created by capitalism up to that moment and in the future would be redistributed under some scheme of centralized planning, where the initial kick-off began a process whose nefarious consequences we are suffering today. Promoting a socialist agenda, but insidiously operating within the liberal paradigm, this new political class distorted the values of liberalism.
Thus, they replaced freedom with liberation, utilizing the coercive power of the state to distribute the wealth created by capitalism. Their justification was the sinister, unjust, and aberrant idea of social justice, complemented by Marxist theoretical frameworks whose end was to liberate the individual from their needs. And at the bottom of this new value scheme, the fundamental premise of equality before the law is not enough, as there are hidden base injustices that need to be rectified, which represents a gold mine for bureaucrats with aspirations of omnipotence.
This is fundamentally what wokism consists of; it is the result of the inversion of Western values, each of the pillars of our civilization has been changed into a distorted version of itself through the introduction of various mechanisms of its cultural version. From the negative rights to life, liberty, and property, we moved to an artificially infinite number of positive rights. First it was education, then housing, and from there, ridiculous things like access to the Internet, televised soccer, theater, aesthetic treatments, and a myriad of other desires that transformed into fundamental human rights, rights that, of course, someone has to pay for.
And that can only be guaranteed through the infinite expansion of the aberrant state. In other words, from the concept of freedom as fundamental protection of the individual against the intervention of the tyrant, we moved to the concept of liberation through state intervention. On this basis, wokism was built, a regime of thought uniformity, supported by different institutions whose purpose is to penalize dissent; feminism, diversity, inclusion, equity, immigration, abortion, environmentalism, and gender ideology, among others, are heads of the same creature whose end is to justify the advance of the state by appropriating and distorting noble causes.
Let’s take a look at some. Radical feminism is a distortion of the concept of equality, and even in its most benevolent version, it is redundant, as equality before the law already exists in the West. Everything else is a quest for privileges, which is what radical feminism actually intends, putting one half of the population against the other when they should be on the same side. We have even reached the point of normalizing that in many supposedly civilized countries, if one kills a woman, it is called femicide, and that carries a heavier penalty than if one kills a man simply because of the sex of the victim.
Legalizing, in fact, that a woman's life is worth more than a man's, waving the banner of the gender pay gap, but when one looks at the data, it is evident that there is no inequality for the same job, but rather that most men tend to pursue better-paying professions than most women. However, they do not complain that the majority of prisoners are men, nor that the majority of plumbers are men, nor that the majority of robbery or murder victims are men, not to mention the majority of those who died in wars.
But if one raises these issues, from the media or even from these forums, they label us as misogynists simply for defending a fundamental principle of modern democracy and the rule of law, which is equality before the law and data. Wokism, furthermore, manifests itself in sinister radical ecological movements and the banner of climate change. Conserving our planet for future generations is a matter of common sense; no one wants to live in a trash heap. But once again, wokism has managed to pervert that basic idea of preserving the environment for the enjoyment of human beings, leading us to a fanatical environmentalism where humans are seen as a cancer that must be eliminated, and economic development is treated as a crime against nature.
However, when one argues that the Earth has already undergone five cycles of abrupt temperature changes, and in four of them, man did not even exist, we are labeled as flat-earthers to discredit our ideas, regardless of the fact that science and the data are on our side. It is no coincidence that these same people are the main promoters of the bloodthirsty and murderous agenda of abortion, an agenda designed based on Malthusian premises that overpopulation is going to destroy the Earth and therefore we must implement some form of population control. In fact, this has been adopted to such an extent that the population growth rate is beginning to become a problem on the planet today.
What a task they have taken on with these abominations of abortion. From these forums, the LGBT agenda is promoted, wanting to impose on us that women are men and men are women only if they self-identify as such, and they say nothing of when a man dresses as a woman and kills his opponent in a boxing ring, or when a prisoner claims to be a woman and ends up raping any woman that crosses his path in prison.
Not long ago, the case of two homosexual Americans who, waving the flag of sexual diversity, were sentenced to a hundred years in prison for abusing and filming their adopted children for more than two years made news around the world. I want to be clear that when I say abuses, it is not a euphemism, because in its most extreme versions, gender ideology constitutes outright child abuse. They are pedophiles; therefore, I want to know who supports such behaviors.
They are irreversibly harming healthy children through hormonal treatments and mutilations, as if a five-year-old could give consent to such things. And if it happens that their family does not agree, there will always be state agents willing to intervene in favor of what they call the best interest of the child. Believe me, the shocking experiments being carried out today in the name of this criminal ideology will be condemned and compared to those that took place during the darkest times of our history. And covering this multitude of abject practices is the eternal victimhood always ready to shoot accusations of homophobia or transphobia and other inventions whose only purpose is to try to silence those who denounce this scandal of which national and international authorities are complicit.
On the other hand, in our companies, public institutions, and educational establishments, merit has been set aside by the doctrine of diversity, which implies a regression to the noble systems of yore. Quotas are invented for however many minorities politicians can think of, which only attacks the excellence of these institutions. Wokism has also distorted the cause of immigration; the free movement of goods and people is at the foundations of liberalism, we know this well; Argentina, the United States, and many other countries became great because of those immigrants who left their home countries in search of new opportunities.
However, instead of trying to attract foreign talent to promote development, we have moved to mass immigration motivated not by national interest but by guilt. Since the West is supposedly the cause of all the ills of history, it must redeem itself by opening its borders to the whole world, ultimately leading to a reverse colonization that resembles collective suicide.
This is how we see today in images of hordes of immigrants who abuse, violate, or kill European citizens who only committed the sin of not adhering to a particular religion. But when one questions these situations, they are labeled as racist, xenophobic, or Nazi. Wokism has penetrated so deeply into our societies, promoted by institutions like this, that it has even led to questioning the very idea of sex through the nefarious ideology of gender.
This has resulted in even greater state intervention through absurd legislation such as that the state must finance hormones and expensive surgeries to fulfill the self-perception of certain individuals. Only today are we beginning to see the effects of a whole generation that mutilated their bodies, promoted by a culture of sexual relativity that will have to spend their entire lives in psychiatric treatments to cope with what they did, but no one says anything about these issues. Not only that, they have also subjected the vast majority to be slaves to the mistaken self-perceptions of a tiny minority, and furthermore, wokism seeks to hijack our future.
Because by dominating the chairs of the most prestigious universities in the world, it is shaping the elites of our countries to undermine and deny the culture, ideas, and values that made us great, further damaging our social fabric. What do we have left for the future if we are teaching our youth to feel ashamed of our past? All of this was incubated and developed in an increasingly evident manner over the last few decades, after the fall of the Berlin Wall; curiously, free countries began to self-destruct when they had no adversaries left to defeat.
Peace made us weak; we were defeated by our own complacency. All these and other aberrations, which we cannot enumerate due to time constraints, are what today threaten the West, and they are, unfortunately, the beliefs that institutions like this have promoted for forty years. No one here can play innocent. They have worshiped for decades a sinister and murderous ideology as if it were a golden calf and have moved heaven and earth to impose it upon humanity.
This same organization, as well as the most influential supranational bodies, have been ideologists of this barbarity. The multilateral credit organizations have been an extortionate arm, and many national states, particularly the European Union, have been and are an armed arm. Or are they not imprisoning citizens in the United Kingdom today for revealing truly horrifying, aberrant crimes committed by Muslim migrants that the government wants to hide?
Or did the bureaucrats in Brussels not suspend the elections in Romania simply because they did not like which party won? In the face of each of these discussions, wokism tries to discredit those who question these issues, first labeling us and then censoring us; if we are white, we must be racist; if you are a man, you must be misogynist or a member of the patriarchy; if you are rich, you must be a cruel capitalist; if you are heterosexual, you must be heteronormative, homophobic, or transphobic. For every challenge, they have a label, which they then try to censor de facto or de jure.
Because beneath the discourse of diversity and democracy and the tolerance they claim to advocate, what truly hides is the manifest desire to destroy dissonance, criticism, and essentially freedom to continue upholding a model from which they are the main beneficiaries. Or have we not heard in recent days how certain important European authorities, quite left-leaning, let's say, openly call for censorship; or that, in reality, there is no censorship, but that it is necessary to silence those who think differently from woke ideology?
And what kind of society can result from wokism? A society that replaced the free exchange of goods and services with the arbitrary distribution of wealth at gunpoint, replaced free communities with forced collectivization, replaced the creative chaos of the market with the sterile and esclerotic order of socialism. A society filled with resentment, where there are only two types of people: those who are net taxpayers on one side and those who are beneficiaries of the state on the other.
And I am not referring to those who receive social assistance because they do not have enough to eat; I am talking about the privileged corporations, the bankers who were rescued during the subprime crisis, the majority of the media, the indoctrination centers disguised as universities, the state bureaucracy, labor unions, social organizations, state patronage companies, and all the sectors that live off taxes paid by those who work.
I am talking about the world depicted by Ayn Rand in Atlas Shrugged, which has unfortunately materialized. A scheme where the big winner is the political class, which in turn becomes the arbiter and interested party in this division. I repeat: the political class is both the arbiter and the interested party in this division. And as always, the one who distributes takes the best part. Where, beneath cosmetic differences among the various parties, interests, partners, arrangements, and an unchanging commitment to keep everything the same are shared; that’s why I call them all the Party of the State. A system that hides behind the well-meaning discourse where, according to them, the market fails and they are the ones in charge of solving those failures with regulations, brute force, and bureaucracy. But there are no market failures. I will repeat it again: there are no market failures.
Given that the market is a mechanism of social cooperation where property rights are voluntarily exchanged, the supposed market failure is a contradiction in terms. The only thing that such intervention generates is new distortions in the price system, which in turn hinders economic calculation, savings, and investment, and ultimately generates more poverty or a filthy tangle of regulations, for example, like those that exist in Europe, killing economic growth. As I usually say in my presentations: “if you believe there is a market failure, go check if the State is not meddling in the middle, and if you find that it is not, do the analysis again because you are wrong.”
That is why wokism is nothing more than a systematic plan of the Party of the State to justify state intervention and increase public spending, which means our first crusade, the most important one if we want to reclaim the West of progress, if we want to build a new golden age must be the drastic reduction of the size of the State. Not only in each of our countries but also the drastic reduction of all supranational bodies.
Because it is the only way to cut this perverse system to the quick, draining its resources, to return to the taxpayer what is theirs and put an end to the sale of favors. There is no better method than eliminating state bureaucracy to eliminate the possibility of buying such favors.
The functions of the State must once again be limited to the defense of the right to life, freedom, and property. Any other function that the State arrogates to itself will be to the detriment of its fundamental task and will inevitably culminate in the omnipresent Leviathan that we all endure today. Today we witness a global exhaustion of this system that has dominated us for the last few decades. Just as happened in Argentina, the only relevant conflict of this century and all those that have passed is being intensified worldwide: the conflict between free citizens and the political caste that clings to the established order, redoubling its efforts of censorship, persecution, and destruction.
Fortunately, throughout the free world, there is a silenced majority that is organizing, and in every corner of our hemisphere, the echo of this cry for freedom resonates. We are facing a change of era, a Copernican shift, the destruction of one paradigm and the construction of another, and if global influencing institutions, like this house, want to turn the page and participate in good faith in this new paradigm, they will have to take responsibility for the role they played in the last few decades and acknowledge to society the mea culpa that is being demanded of them.
To conclude, I want to speak directly to the leaders of the world, to all those who lead both national states and large economic groups and international organizations, both those present here and those listening from their homes. The political formulas of the last few decades that I have outlined in this speech have failed and are collapsing upon themselves. This means that thinking as everyone thinks, reading what everyone reads, saying what everyone says can only lead to error, even though many persist in walking towards the precipice.
The script of the last 40 years has run its course, and when a system exhausts itself, history opens up. Therefore, to all global leaders, I say: it is time to step away from that script, it is time to be bold, it is time to dare to think and to dare to write our own verses because when the ideas and texts of the present say the same thing and say incorrect things, being brave consists precisely in being anachronistic, it consists in going back, in not being dazzled by the ephemeral while losing sight of the universal. It consists of recovering truths that were obvious to our predecessors and that are at the foundation of the civilizational success that has been the West, but which the regime of single thought of recent decades perceived as if they were heresies.
As Churchill once said, ‘The farther back you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.’ This means we must reconnect with forgotten truths from our past to untie the knot of the present and take the next step forward as a civilization towards the future. And what do I see when I look back? That we must embrace, once again, the latest proven theses of economic and social success. In other words, the model of freedom, to embrace the ideas of freedom once more, to return to liberalism. That is what we are doing in Argentina, that is what I trust President Trump will do in this new North America, and that is what we invite all the major free nations of the world to do to timely halt what is clearly a path leading to catastrophe.
Ultimately, what I am proposing to you is to make the West great again. Today, just as 215 years ago, Argentina has broken its chains and invites —as our hymn says— all the mortals of the world to hear the sacred cry, freedom, freedom, freedom. May the forces of heaven be with us. Thank you very much to all and… ¡viva la libertad, carajo!

Buenos días a todos. Cuánto ha cambiado en tan poco tiempo. Hace un año me paré aquí frente a ustedes en soledad y dije algunas verdades sobre el estado del mundo occidental que fueron recibidas con cierta sorpresa y estupor por buena parte del establishment político, económico y mediático de Occidente. Y debo reconocer que, en algún sentido, lo comprendo. Un presidente de un país que, producto del fracaso económico sistemático por más de 100 años, producto de haber tomado posturas pusilánimes en los grandes conflictos globales, y producto de habernos cerrado al comercio, había perdido prácticamente toda relevancia internacional con el correr de los años. Un presidente de ese país se para en este estrado y le dice al mundo entero que están equivocados, que se dirigen al fracaso, que Occidente se ha desviado y que debe ser reencauzado.
Un presidente de ese país, Argentina, que no era político, que no tenía apoyo legislativo, que no tenía apoyo de gobernadores ni de empresarios ni de grupos mediáticos. En ese discurso, aquí, parado frente a ustedes, les dije que era el comienzo de una nueva Argentina, que Argentina había estado infectada de socialismo por demasiado tiempo y que con nosotros iba a volver a abrazar las ideas de la libertad; un modelo que nosotros resumimos en la defensa de la vida, la libertad y la propiedad privada.

Hoy vengo aquí a decirles que nuestra batalla no está ganada, que si bien la esperanza ha renacido es nuestro deber moral y nuestra responsabilidad histórica desmantelar el edificio ideológico del wokismo enfermizo. Hasta que no hayamos logrado reconstruir nuestra catedral histórica, hasta que no logremos que la mayoría de los países de Occidente vuelvan a abrazar las ideas de la libertad, hasta que nuestras ideas no sean la moneda común de los pasillos de eventos como este, no podremos bajar los brazos porque, debo decir, foros como este han sido protagonistas y promotores de la agenda siniestra del wokismo que tanto daño le está haciendo a Occidente. Si queremos cambiar, si queremos verdaderamente defender los derechos de los ciudadanos, primero tenemos que empezar por decirles la verdad.
Y la verdad es que hay algo profundamente equivocado en las ideas que se han estado promoviendo desde foro como este. Me gustaría tomarme unos minutos, desde este día, para discutir algunas de ellas. Hoy pocas personas niegan que soplan vientos de cambio en occidente. Están quienes se resisten al cambio, están quienes lo aceptan a regañadientes, pero lo aceptan al fin, están los nuevos conversos que aparecen cuando lo ven como inevitable y, por último, estamos quienes hemos luchado toda una vida por su advenimiento.
Cada uno de ustedes sabrá en qué grupo se reconoce, seguramente haya un poco de cada uno en este auditorio, pero todos reconocerán, seguramente, que el tiempo de cambio está tocando la puerta. Los momentos de cambio histórico tienen una particularidad: son tiempos donde las fórmulas que estuvieron vigentes por décadas se agotan, las maneras consideradas únicas de hacer las cosas dejan de tener sentido y lo que para muchos eran verdades incuestionables son, finalmente, puestas en duda. Son momentos donde las reglas se reescriben y por eso son tiempos que recompensan a quienes tienen el coraje para tomar riesgos.
Pero buena parte del mundo libre aún prefiere el confort de lo conocido, aunque sea el camino equivocado e insiste en aplicar las recetas del fracaso. Y el gran yunque que aparece como denominador común en los países e instituciones que están fracasando es el virus mental de la ideología woke. Esta es la gran epidemia de nuestra época que debe ser curada, es el cáncer que hay que extirpar.
Esta ideología ha colonizado las instituciones más importantes del mundo, desde los partidos y Estados de los países libres de Occidente, hasta las organizaciones de gobernanza global, pasando por instituciones no gubernamentales, universidades y medios de comunicación, como también ha marcado el curso de la conversación global durante las últimas décadas. Hasta que no saquemos esta ideología aberrante de nuestra cultura, nuestras instituciones y nuestras leyes, la civilización occidental e incluso la especie humana no logrará retornar la senda del progreso que demanda nuestro espíritu pionero.
Es indispensable romper estas cadenas ideológicas si queremos dar un paso a una nueva era dorada. Por eso, hoy quiero dedicarle unos minutos a destruir esas cadenas, pero primero hablemos de aquello por lo que estamos luchando. Occidente representa el pico de la especie humana, la tierra fértil de su herencia grecorromana y sus valores judeocristianos plantaron las semillas de algo inédito en la historia. Tras imponerse de manera definitiva sobre el absolutismo, el liberalismo inauguró una nueva era en la existencia humana. Dentro de ese nuevo marco moral y filosófico que ponía la libertad individual por encima del capricho del tirano. Occidente pudo dar rienda suelta a la capacidad creativa del hombre, dando inicio un proceso de generación de riqueza nunca antes visto.
Los datos hablan por sí solos, hasta el año 1800 el PBI per cápita del mundo se mantuvo prácticamente constante. Sin embargo, a partir del siglo XIX y gracias a la Revolución Industrial, el PBI per cápita se multiplicó por 20; sacando de la pobreza al 90% de la población mundial aún cuando la población se multiplicó por ocho veces. Esto solo fue posible gracias a una convergencia de valores fundamentales, el respeto a la vida, la libertad y la propiedad que hicieron posible el libre comercio, la libertad de expresión, la libertad religiosa y el resto de los pilares de la civilización occidental.
Sumado a esto, nuestro espíritu fáustico, inventivo, explorador, pionero, que siempre está poniendo a prueba los límites de lo posible. Espíritu pionero que hoy se ve representado entre otros por mi querido amigo Elon Musk, que injustamente ha sido vilipendiado por el wokismo, en las últimas horas, por un inocente gesto que lo único que significa es su entusiasmo y gratitud con la gente. En resumen, inventamos el capitalismo a base de ahorro, inversión, trabajo, reinversión. Logramos que cada trabajador pudiera multiplicar por 10, por 100 o porque no hasta por 1000 su productividad, venciendo así a la trampa malthusiana. Sin embargo, en algún momento del siglo XX perdimos el rumbo y los principios liberales que nos habían hecho libres y prósperos fueron traicionados.
Una nueva clase política, amparada por ideologías de corte colectivista, y aprovechando momentos de crisis, vio una oportunidad perfecta para acumular poder. Toda la riqueza creada por el capitalismo hasta ese momento y en el futuro sería redistribuida bajo algún esquema de planificación centralizada, donde el puntapié inicial a un proceso cuyas nefastas consecuencias estamos padeciendo hoy mismo. Impulsando una agenda socialista, pero insidiosamente operando dentro del paradigma liberal, esta nueva clase política desvirtuó los valores del liberalismo.
Así, reemplazaron libertad por liberación, utilizando el poder coercitivo del Estado para distribuir la riqueza creada por el capitalismo. Su justificación fue la siniestra, injusta y aberrante idea de la justicia social, complementada por entramados teóricos marxistas cuyo fin era liberar al individuo de sus necesidades. Y en el fondo de este nuevo esquema de valores, la premisa fundamental de la igualdad ante la ley no es suficiente, ya que existen injusticias de bases ocultas que deben ser rectificadas, lo cual representa una mina de oro para burócratas con aspiraciones de omnipotencia.
En esto consiste fundamentalmente el wokismo, es el resultado de la inversión de los valores occidentales, cada uno de los pilares de nuestra civilización fue cambiado por una versión distorsionada de sí mismo mediante la introducción de diversos mecanismos de su versión cultural. De los derechos negativos a la vida, la libertad y a la propiedad, pasamos a una cantidad artificialmente infinita de derechos positivos. Primero fue la educación, luego la vivienda y, a partir de allí, cosas irrisorias como el acceso a Internet, la televisación del fútbol, el teatro, los tratamientos estéticos y un sinfín más de deseos que se transformaron en derechos humanos fundamentales, derechos que, por supuesto, alguien tiene que pagar.
Y que sólo pueden ser garantizados mediante la expansión infinita del aberrante Estado. En otras palabras, del concepto de libertad como protección fundamental del individuo frente a la intervención del tirano, pasamos al concepto de liberación mediante la intervención del Estado. Sobre esta base fue construido el wokismo, un régimen de pensamiento único, sostenido por distintas instituciones cuyo propósito es penalizar el disenso, feminismo, diversidad, inclusión, equidad, inmigración, aborto, ecologismo, ideología de género, entre otros, son cabezas de una misma criatura cuyo fin es justificar el avance del Estado mediante la apropiación y distorsión de causas nobles.
Veamos algunas. El feminismo radical es una distorsión del concepto de igualdad y aún en su versión más benévola es redundante, ya que la igualdad ante la ley ya existe en Occidente. Todo lo demás es búsqueda de privilegios, que es lo que el feminismo radical realmente pretende, poniendo a una mitad de la población en contra de la otra cuando deberían estar del mismo lado. Llegamos, incluso, al punto de normalizar que muchos países supuestamente civilizados si uno mata a la mujer se llama femicidio, y eso conlleva una pena más grave que si uno mata a un hombre solo por el sexo de la víctima.
Legalizando, de hecho, que la vida de una mujer vale más que la de un hombre, enarbolando la bandera de la brecha salarial de género, pero cuando uno mira los datos es evidente que no hay desigualdad para una misma tarea, sino que la mayoría de los hombres tienden a profesiones mejor pagas que la mayoría de las mujeres. Sin embargo, no se quejan de que la mayoría de los presos son hombres, ni que la mayoría de los plomeros son hombres, ni que la mayoría de las víctimas de robo o asesinato son hombres y ni que hablar de la mayoría de las personas que murieron en guerras.
Pero si uno plantea estas cuestiones, desde los medios de comunicación o incluso desde este foros, nos tildan de misóginos solo por el hecho de defender un principio elemental de la democracia moderna y el Estado de derecho, que es la igualdad ante la ley y los datos. El wokismo, además, se manifiesta en el siniestro ecologismo radical y la bandera de cambio climático. Conservar nuestro planeta para las futuras generaciones es cuestión de sentido común, nadie quiere vivir en un basurero. Pero nuevamente el wokismo se la arregló para pervertir esa idea elemental de preservar el medio ambiente para el disfrute de los seres humanos, pasamos a un ambientalismo fanático donde los seres humanos somos un cáncer que debe ser eliminado, y el desarrollo económico poco menos que un crimen contra la naturaleza.
Sin embargo, cuando uno argumenta que la Tierra ha tenido ya cinco ciclos de cambios bruscos de temperatura y que en cuatro de ellos el hombre ni existía, nos tildan de terraplanistas para desacreditar nuestras ideas, sin importar que la ciencia y los datos estén de nuestro lado. No es casualidad que estos mismos sean los principales promotores de la agenda sanguinaria y asesina del aborto, una agenda diseñada a partir de las premisas malthusianas de que la superpoblación va a destruir a la Tierra y, por lo tanto, debemos implementar algún mecanismo de control poblacional. De hecho, esto ha sido ya adoptado al extremo que hoy en el planeta se está empezando a convertir en un problema la tasa de crecimiento de la población.
Vaya tarea que se mandaron con estas aberraciones del aborto. Desde estos foros se promueve la agenda LGBT, queriendo imponernos que las mujeres son hombres y los hombres son mujeres sólo si así se autoperciben y nada dicen de cuando un hombre se disfraza de mujer y mata a su rival en un ring de boxeo o cuando un preso alega ser mujer y termina violando a cuanta mujer se le cruce por delante en la prisión.
Sin ir más lejos, hace pocas semanas fue noticia en todo el mundo el caso de dos americanos homosexuales que, enarbolando la bandera de la diversidad sexual, fueron condenados a cien años de prisión por abusar y filmar a sus hijos adoptivos durante más de dos años. Quiero ser claro que cuando digo abusos no es un eufemismo, porque en sus versiones más extremas la ideología de género constituye lisa y llanamente abuso infantil. Son pedófilos, por lo tanto, quiero saber quién avala esos comportamientos.
Están dañando irreversiblemente a niños sanos mediante tratamientos hormonales y mutilaciones, como si un menor de cinco años pudiera prestar su consentimiento a semejante cosa. Y si ocurriera que su familia no está de acuerdo, siempre habrá agentes del Estado dispuestos a interceder en favor de lo que ellos llaman el interés del menor. Créanme que los escandalosos experimentos que hoy se realizan en nombre de esta ideología criminal serán condenados y comparados con aquellos ocurridos durante las épocas más oscuras de nuestra historia. Y cubriendo esta multitud de prácticas abyectas está el eterno victimismo siempre dispuesto a disparar acusaciones de homofobia o transfobia y otros inventos cuyo único propósito es intentar callar a quienes denuncian este escándalo del que las autoridades nacionales e internacionales son cómplices.
Por otro lado, en nuestras empresas, instituciones públicas y casas de estudios el mérito fue dejado de lado por la doctrina de la diversidad, que implica un retroceso hacia los sistemas nobiliarios de antaño. Se inventan cupos para cuántas minorías se les ocurra a los políticos, que lo único que hacen es atentar contra la excelencia de esas instituciones. El wokismo también ha distorsionado la causa de la inmigración; la libre circulación de bienes y personas están en los fundamentos del liberalismo, lo sabemos bien, Argentina y los Estados Unidos y muchos otros países se hicieron grandes por aquellos inmigrantes que dejaron sus tierras de origen en busca de nuevas oportunidades.
Sin embargo, de intentar atraer el talento extranjero para promover el desarrollo hemos pasado a la inmigración masiva motivada no desde el interés nacional sino desde la culpa. Como Occidente es la supuesta causa de todos los males de la historia, debe redimirse abriendo sus fronteras a todo el mundo, culminando necesariamente en una colonización inversa, que se asemeja al suicidio colectivo.
Así es como vemos hoy en las imágenes de hordas de inmigrantes que abusan, violan o matan a ciudadanos europeos que solo cometieron el pecado de no haber adherido a una religión en particular. Pero cuando uno cuestiona estas situaciones es tildado de racista, xenófobo o nazi. El wokismo ha calado tan profundamente en nuestras sociedades, promovido por instituciones como esta, que se ha llegado incluso a cuestionar la idea misma de sexo a través de la nefasta ideología de género.
Esto ha derivado todavía mayor intervención estatal mediante legislación absurda como el que el Estado tiene que financiar hormonas y cirugías millonarias para cumplir con la autopercepción de ciertos individuos. Recién hoy estamos viendo los efectos de toda una generación que mutiló su cuerpo, promovidos por una cultura de la relatividad sexual que tendrá que pasar su vida entera en tratamientos psiquiátricos para afrontar lo que se hicieron, pero nadie dice nada de estas cuestiones. No solo eso, también han sometido a la inmensa mayoría a ser esclavos de las equivocadas autopercepciones de una diminuta mayoría y, además, el wokismo pretende secuestrar a nuestro futuro.
Porque al dominar las cátedras de las universidades más prestigiosas del mundo está formando las élites de nuestros países para impugnar y negar la cultura, las ideas y los valores que nos hicieron grandes, lesionando aún más nuestro tejido social. ¿Qué nos queda para el futuro si estamos enseñándoles a nuestros jóvenes a sentir vergüenza por nuestro pasado? Todo esto se incubó y desarrolló de forma cada vez más notoria durante las últimas décadas, después de la caída del Muro de Berlín, curiosamente los países libres se empezaron a autodestruir cuando se quedaron sin adversarios por derrotar.
La paz nos volvió débiles, fuimos derrotados por nuestra propia complacencia. Todas estas y otras aberraciones, que por cuestiones de tiempo no podemos enumerar, son las que hoy amenazan a Occidente y son, lamentablemente, las creencias que instituciones como esta han promovido durante cuarenta años. Aquí nadie se puede hacer el inocente. Le han rendido culto por décadas a una ideología siniestra y asesina como si se tratara de un becerro de oro y han movido cielo y tierra para imponerla sobre la humanidad.
Esta misma organización y también los organismos supranacionales más influyentes han sido ideólogos de esta barbarie. Los organismos multilaterales de crédito han sido un brazo extorsivo y muchos estados nacionales, y en particular la Unión Europea, han sido y son un brazo armado. O acaso en Reino Unido hoy mismo no están encarcelando a ciudadanos por revelar crímenes aberrantes, realmente espantosos, cometidos por migrantes musulmanes que el gobierno quiere ocultar.
O acaso los burócratas de Bruselas no suspendieron las elecciones de Rumanía simplemente porque no les gustó qué partido había ganado. Frente a cada una de estas discusiones, el wokismo intenta desacreditar a quienes cuestionen estas cosas, primero etiquetándonos para luego censurarnos, si somos blancos debe ser racista, si sos hombre debes ser misógino o miembro del patriarcado, si sos rico debes ser un cruel capitalista, si sos heterosexual debes ser heteronormativo, homofóbico o transfóbico. Para cada cuestionamiento tienen una etiqueta, que luego intentan censurar por vías de facto o de iure.
Porque debajo del discurso de la diversidad y de la democracia y de la tolerancia que dicen esgrimir, lo que en verdad se esconde es el deseo manifiesto de destruir la disonancia, la crítica y en esencia la libertad para seguir sosteniendo un modelo del cual ellos son los principales beneficiarios. O acaso no escuchamos estos días como ciertas autoridades europeas importantes, bastante rojitas, por decirlo de alguna manera, llaman abiertamente a la censura; o que, en realidad, no hay censura, pero sí hay que callar a los que piensan distinto a la ideología woke.
¿Y qué clase de sociedad puede resultar del wokismo? Una sociedad que reemplazó el libre intercambio de bienes y servicios por la distribución arbitraria de la riqueza a punta de pistola, reemplazó las comunidades libres por la colectivización forzada, reemplazó el caos creativo del mercado por el orden estéril y esclerótico del socialismo. Una sociedad llena de resentimiento, donde hay solo dos tipos de personas, quienes son pagadores netos de impuestos por un lado y quienes son beneficiarios del Estado por otro.
Y no me refiero con esto a quienes reciben la subsistencia social porque no tienen para comer, hablo de las corporaciones privilegiadas hablo de los banqueros que fueron rescatados en las crisis subprime, de la mayoría de los medios de comunicación, de los centros de adoctrinamiento disfrazados de universidades, de la burocracia estatal, de los sindicatos, de las organizaciones sociales, de las empresas prebendarias del Estado y de todos los sectores que viven de los impuestos que pagan los que trabajan.
Hablo del mundo que describe Ayn Rand en La rebelión de Atlas, que lamentablemente se ha materializado. Un esquema donde el gran ganador es la clase política que se convierte, a su vez, en árbitro y parte interesada de esta repartija. Lo repito: la clase política es árbitro y parte interesada en esta repartija. Y como siempre el que reparte se lleva la mejor parte. Donde por debajo de diferencias cosméticas entre los distintos partidos se comparten intereses, socios, arreglos y un compromiso inalterable con que nada cambie, por eso los llamó a todos ellos el Partido del Estado. Un sistema que se esconde detrás del discurso bienpensante donde, según ellos, el mercado falla y son ellos los encargados de solucionar dichas fallas con regulaciones, fuerza y burocracia. Pero no existen las fallas de mercado. Lo repito nuevamente: no existen las fallas de mercado.
Dado que el mercado es un mecanismo de cooperación social donde se intercambian voluntariamente derechos de propiedad, la supuesta falla de mercado es una contradicción en sus propios términos. Lo único que genera esa intervención son nuevas distorsiones del sistema de precios, lo que a su vez entorpece el cálculo económico, el ahorro y la inversión y, por ende a la postre, terminan generando más pobreza o una maraña inmunda de regulaciones, por ejemplo, como las que existen en Europa, matando el crecimiento económico. Como suelo decir en mis ponencias: “si usted considera que existe una falla de mercado, vaya y revise si no está el Estado metido en el medio, y si encuentra que no haga de nuevo el análisis porque está mal”.
Por eso mismo como el wokismo no es ni más ni menos que un plan sistemático del partido del Estado para justificar la intervención estatal y el aumento del gasto público, esto quiere decir que nuestra primera cruzada, la más importante si queremos recuperar el occidente del progreso, si queremos construir una nueva época de oro tiene que ser la reducción drástica del tamaño del Estado. No solo en cada uno de nuestros países, sino también la reducción drástica de todos los organismos supranacionales.
Porque es la única forma de cortar de cuajo con este sistema perverso, drenándole los recursos, para devolver al pagador de impuestos lo que es suyo y terminar con la venta de favores. No hay mejor método que eliminar la burocracia estatal para que no exista la posibilidad de vender dichos favores.
Las funciones del Estado deben limitarse nuevamente a la defensa del derecho a la vida, a la libertad y a la propiedad. Cualquier otra función que el Estado se arrogue será en detrimento de su tarea fundamental y culminará, inexorablemente, en el Leviatán omnipresente que hoy todos padecemos. Hoy asistimos a un agotamiento global de este sistema que nos dominó las últimas décadas. Así como sucedió en Argentina, en el resto del mundo se está acentuando el único conflicto relevante de este siglo y de todos los que ya pasaron: el conflicto entre los ciudadanos libres y la casta política que se aferra al orden establecido, redoblando sus esfuerzos de censura, persecución y destrucción.
Por fortuna, en todo el mundo libre hay una mayoría silenciada que se está organizando y en todos los rincones de nuestro hemisferio resuena el eco de este grito de libertad. Estamos frente a un cambio de época, un giro copernicano, la destrucción de un paradigma y la construcción de otro, y si las instituciones de influencia global, como esta casa quiere pasar de página y participar de buena fe de este nuevo paradigma, tendrá que hacerse responsable del papel que jugaron en estas últimas décadas y reconocer ante la sociedad el mea culpa que se le reclama.
Para cerrar, quiero hablarles directamente a los líderes del mundo, a todos aquellos que conducen tanto Estados nacionales como grandes grupos económicos y organismos internacionales, tanto los aquí presentes como los que nos están escuchando desde sus casas. Las fórmulas políticas de las últimas décadas que he expuesto en este discurso, han fracasado y están colapsando sobre sí mismas. Eso quiere decir que pensar como piensan todos, leer lo que leen todos, decir lo que dicen todos solo puede conducir al error, aunque aún haya muchos que persistan en caminar hacia el precipicio.
El guion de los últimos 40 años se ha agotado y cuando un sistema se agota la historia se abre. Por eso, a todos los líderes globales les digo: es momento de salir de ese guion, es momento de ser audaces, es momento de animarse a pensar y de animarse a escribir versos propios porque cuando las ideas y los textos del presente dicen todos lo mismo y dicen cosas equivocadas, ser valiente consiste justamente en ser extemporáneo, consiste en volver hacia atrás, en no dejarse encandilar por lo pasajero perdiendo de vista lo universal. Consiste en recuperar verdades que para nuestros antecedentes eran obvias y que están en la base del éxito civilizatorio que ha sido occidente, pero que el régimen del pensamiento único de las últimas décadas percibió como si fueran herejías.
Como dijo alguna vez Churchill «Cuanto más para atrás miremos, más lejos podremos ver hacia adelante». Es decir, tenemos que encontrarnos con verdades olvidadas de nuestro pasado para desatar el nudo del presente y dar el próximo paso adelante como civilización hacia el futuro. ¿Y qué veo cuando miro para atrás? Que tenemos que abrazar, una vez más, las últimas tesis comprobadas de éxito económico y social. Es decir, el modelo de la libertad, volver a abrazar las ideas de la libertad, volver al liberalismo. Eso es lo que estamos haciendo en Argentina, eso es lo que confío que el presidente Trump hará en esta nueva Norteamérica, y es lo que invitamos a hacer a todas las grandes naciones del mundo libres que pretenden frenar a tiempo lo que, a todas las luces, es un sendero que conduce a la catástrofe.
En definitiva, lo que les estoy proponiendo es que hagamos a occidente grande nuevamente. Hoy, al igual que hace 215 años, la Argentina ha roto sus cadenas y los invita —como dice nuestro himno— a todos los mortales del mundo a oír el grito sagrado, libertad, libertad, libertad. Que las fuerzas del cielo nos acompañen. Muchísimas gracias a todos y… ¡viva la libertad, carajo!
