Privacy Policy

Like most websites, MileiHoy receives technical information that browsers and servers make available on every visit: browser type, language preference, referring site, the date and time of each request and IP address. We use it to operate the site, protect it from abuse and understand how it is used.

To measure our audience in aggregate we use Google Analytics, a Google service that collects browsing data (pages viewed, visit length, device type and approximate location) through cookies. Google processes that information under its own privacy policy. We do not use advertising trackers.

Some features require personal data. We collect only what is needed in each case:

• Account: when you sign up we ask for your name and email address. Sign-up and sign-in are handled by Clerk, our authentication provider.
• Premium subscription: payments are processed through Mercado Pago (in pesos, from Argentina) or Stripe (in dollars, from other countries). MileiHoy never sees or stores your card or Mercado Pago account details; we only keep your email, the plan you purchased, the payment method, the date your period is paid through and the customer and subscription identifiers assigned by Stripe or Mercado Pago.
• Country, to choose the payment method: on the subscription page we use your IP address to know which country you are visiting from and offer you Mercado Pago or Stripe. The lookup runs on our own server with a DB-IP database; neither the IP nor the country is stored.
• Newsletters: if you check “I want to receive newsletters” (or purchase Premium), we use your email to send you El Resumen Esencial or the Premium edition through Resend, our email delivery provider. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can change your choice anytime from your preferences.
• Political preference (optional): if you state it (Left, Center or Libertarian), we store it with your account only to choose which stories we prioritize in your newsletter and on the site. It is sensitive data under Law No. 25,326: no one is required to provide it, we use it only with your consent, we do not share it with third parties, and you can change or delete it (“I'd rather not say”) at any time.
• Contact form: your name, email, topic and message are emailed to our team and are not stored in our database. Your IP address and email are used only temporarily to prevent abusive submissions. To check that you are not a robot, your browser solves a small computation (ALTCHA) that we verify on our own server: it uses no cookies and sends no data to third parties.

You can always decline to provide personal data, with the caveat that some features, such as the Premium subscription, will not be available.

We may compile statistics about how the site is used and publish or share them, for example in a report on reading trends. Those statistics are always aggregated and never identify an individual.

We share personal data only with the providers that help us operate the service and that commit to protecting it: Clerk (authentication), Stripe and Mercado Pago (payments), Resend (email), Supabase (database) and Google (Analytics). Some of them may store information outside Argentina; by using MileiHoy you accept that transfer.

We do not sell or rent your personal data. Beyond those providers, we disclose it only in response to a court order or another request from a competent authority, or when we believe in good faith that it is necessary to protect the rights of MileiHoy, third parties or the public.

If you have an account, we may occasionally write to you about news on the site or to ask for your opinion. If you send us a question, we may use it, without data that identifies you, to help other readers.

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser, which the browser sends back to the site on every visit. MileiHoy uses:

• Political preference (mileihoy_political_pref): remembers your choice (shown as L, C or R in this edition) for one year, in a cookie and in the browser's local storage.
• Theme: remembers whether you chose light or dark mode, in local storage.
• Session: Clerk cookies that keep you signed in.
• Payments: Stripe cookies during checkout (Mercado Pago payments happen on its own site).
• Analytics: Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) that tell visits apart anonymously. You can disable them with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

You can set your browser to refuse cookies, although sign-in and your preferences may stop working.

MileiHoy offers sponsorship placements (Advertising) without sharing its readers' personal data with advertisers. We do not currently use third-party ad networks; if that changes, we will update this policy before doing so.

If MileiHoy or substantially all of its assets were acquired, or in the unlikely event that the project shut down, user information would be one of the assets transferred. In that case, the acquirer may continue to use it only in accordance with this policy.

We take reasonable measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction. No system is infallible, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You can request access to, correction, updating or deletion of your personal data by writing to us through Contact. We will reply within the time limits of Argentina's Personal Data Protection Law No. 25,326.

The data subject has the right to access their personal data free of charge at intervals of no less than six months, unless a legitimate interest is shown, as established in Article 14, paragraph 3 of Law No. 25,326. The Agencia de Acceso a la Información Pública (Argentina's Agency for Access to Public Information), as the supervisory authority for Law No. 25,326, is empowered to handle the complaints and claims filed by anyone whose rights are affected by a breach of the rules in force on personal data protection.

We may update this Privacy Policy when needed; most changes will be minor. We recommend reviewing it periodically. If you have an account, we may also notify you of significant changes by email. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
