The government seeks to lay off 20,000 more public employees through voluntary retirements
The government of Javier Milei has implemented a new voluntary retirement program for around 20,000 public employees, aiming to reduce the state structure and save on public spending. Officialized through Decree 1203/2026, this measure offers financial compensation to those who choose to leave their positions, but includes restrictions to prevent re-entry into public administration. The goal is to optimize resources and continue with tax reductions, part of the Executive's strategy to reorganize the state.
